Why I'm a part of Ubunye: Having had the privilege of growing up in rural Zimbabwe on a farm I have an immense love for that part of the world, this also gave me a front row seat to the various problems facing the region. Some of which were highlighted when during the issues happening there we were lucky enough to get accepted in Australia where I have been fortunate enough to make a new life for myself, an opportunity not afforded to those Zimbabweans of lessor means and educational status. I truly believe that the only way to solve the problems faced there is through the continued advancement of education, enabling exposure to opportunities, understanding and development of all sectors of the society.
Over the years the pull of Africa has meant many trips home, leaving me always looking for a path to give back in a meaningful way. Ubunye I believe is this path, the endurance and adventure challenges undertaken inspire people to expand what they think is achievable when the human spirit sets its sights on something. All the while raising awareness and funds to help worthy causes, enabling people in some of the most poverty stricken parts of the world a chance at a better life.
