Tour de NARTSA: Grahamstown to Windhoek off road cycle tour

The Ubunye Challenge is proud to be associated with the Tour de NARTSA which involves one of its founding members, Ryan Palmer.

The Tour de NARTSA came about when members of the Grahamstown Round Table, of which Ryan is a member, decided that it would be a good idea to cycle to the annual Association for Round Table Southern Africa (ARTSA) Conference which is being held in Windhoek Namibia from the 28th-30th April 2015, from their clubhouse in Grahamstown, in a bid to raise funds for Grahamstown Round Table.

Grahamstown Round Table is a charitable organisation which runs numerous projects throughout the year and donates a substantial amount of money every year to education programmes, child welfare, health care facilities, old age homes, animal welfare and other a number of other programmes and projects in and around Grahamstown. This is the first time that a project of this nature will be done by Grahamstown Round Table.

All sponsorships and donations will go to the Grahamstown Round Table and distributed to charities at the annual donors evening at the end of the year.

Route

The cyclists will travel 1900km from Grahamstown across South Africa and Namibia to Windhoek over 18 days crossing the Great Karoo and Kalahari Desert. The riders will cover between 90 and 144 km per day riding on gravel roads as much as possible. The team will be hosted along the way by Round Table clubs where possible.

Daily updates of the trip will be available on social media so you can follow the teams progress and share some of the highlights along the way.
