On the 5th October, Thato and Hayley took part in the KIA Cyclethon at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg. The event ran for 9 hours with members of the public jumping on 1 of the 160 stationary bikes for 1 hour at a time. Read more
The Rhodes University Health Suite recently held a 12hour spinathon, where 6 individuals from the Rhodes spinning club cycled their indoor bikes for 12 hours for charity. Each hour they were joined by fellow students and staff members who added to the atmosphere of the day. Read more
I like to keep my training as varied as possible; not only for interest but also for all-round strength as rowing the ocean can throw all sorts of challenges at you. My sessions include running or climbing up and down Table Mountain, swimming in the sea, water polo, cycling, ergs, weights and rowing. However, of all these the rowing has been the most refreshing and interesting. While one would assume this as I am a rower, it is not the flat water stuff that I am used to, but coastal rowing.
